Old Music

tunes

the
many
Dangerous
Neighbors
gig
freebies
and
demos
given
away
from
the
early
1980s
through
about 2005. Enjoy.
Here’s another tune by the power trio. In the early summer of 1988
Dangerous Neighbors recorded this one-off tune called Nigara at a 4-trk
studio located in the top floor of a large mortuary in Northbrook, Illinios.
The quality is taken from a copy of a copy of a cassette tape. There are
dropouts, EQ and compression problems, tape tracking issues, and a long
list of other things, but here it is warts and all. Cassettes were very
popular back then. Enjoy.

It was the fall of 1988 and Dangerous Neighbors performed at a
packed-house bar in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The band that was
working there that night asked us to play a few tunes on their
equipment. As you may know, playing on some else's gear is like
wearing someone else's underpants. But that’s OK, a good time
was had by all. This is our last tune of a 15-minute set and it’s a
cover of Closer to Home by Grand Funk Railroad. This recording
was made with a small consumer grade cassette recorder
connected to the front-of-house mixing board output, and that copy
was copied to another cassette, and that was copied to here in
MP3 format. So this nearly 35 year old cassette produced true
audio fidelity in the lowest sense of the word. Enjoy.
